Hi!
I'm Dr. Natasha Thornton,
founder of
Thornton Educational Collective.
I'm glad you are here and I hope you find our resources and offerings beneficial. We would love to support and partner with you!

I am an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Spelman College. I have over 20 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, educational consultant, and college professor.

Centering the theories and research-based pedagogies of Black Educators in my work through teaching, research, professional learning, and curriculum design is at the core of what I do. If we are committed to centering love, high expectations, cultural responsiveness, and critical consciousness in our work with children and teachers, we must draw from their work.
---
In the book I co-authored, “Revolutionary Love: Creating a Culturally Inclusive Classroom”, I share how, as a classroom teacher, I had to do the difficult work of self-introspection to address some of the biases I held. Although I loved the students I taught and their families, I had to be real about deficit beliefs I had towards them that were rooted in classism. Therefore, I am deeply passionate about developing transformational learning experiences that support educators on their introspective journeys.

I live in metro-Atlanta with my husband Eric, and two sons, EJ and Cam. The family pic is a few years old but I LOVE it! 🙂
